A Letter From Boomer

Dear Friends,

The 2007 campaign for the Boomer Esiason Foundation ended quickly. Last year was remarkable -- not only have we raised millions, but we have significantly expanded our base of operations as well as our giving to CF patients.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our staff and legions of supporters, we have been able to give millions of dollars toward vital scientific research, scholarships, and grants-in-aid to families confronted with lung transplants, as well as direct support to cystic fibrosis centers.

Our outreach has grown across the country to include the states of Wisconsin, Arizona, North Carolina, Ohio, California, Texas, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut and, of course, New York. Our events, led mostly by our dedicated Board of Directors, have included everything from golf tournaments to clay shooting.

BEF is making a significant difference in the lives of CF patients. We are grateful to those who blazed the trail long before we became involved in the battle. I also am grateful to the thousands of families across this country who bear the burden of raising a CF child. CF families have been so generous with their time and money and have fought so hard and long to give all of our children a chance at healthy and productive lives. There is a wonderful sense of optimism found in cystic fibrosis centers across the country, with so many bright and shining examples of where this disease has come from and where it's going.

This undercurrent of optimism is directly related to great advances in medical research. For years, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has worked extremely hard in putting forth an organized effort to greater utilize each and every dollar raised. We are proud to join hand in hand with both the CF Foundation and with all of the families who are trying to raise money to eradicate this disease. As I've told thousands of parents and patients during my visits to CF centers over the past few years, I fight for them and am eager to put a recognizable face on this disease. This is my solemn promise to them and to everyone joined in the fight against cystic fibrosis.

With best wishes,

Boomer Esiason
